Iowa City Public Library

The library has a large collection of more than 260,000 items available for checkout. The collection includes all-ages books, spoken word and music audio recordings, DVDs, downloadable material, as well as smaller specialized collections. All items may be checked out free of charge and each card holder may have twelve free reserves at a time. Questions may be asked in person, by phone, or through the library's web site.

Prairie Hill Cohousing

Iowa City Cohousing is creating a multigenerational community of 36 small, energy efficient complete private homes about a mile from downtown Iowa City. Members will own attached homes and a share of a Common House and 8 acres including gardens, orchards and prairie. Some meals will be shared in the Common House which also has activity rooms, guest rooms, and a children's play room. Members will share in governing and maintaining the community. Homes range from 515 square foot studio apartments in the Common House to 1,600 square foot two-level duplexes.

Iowa City Housing Rehabilitation

The availability of affordable loans, provides lower income homeowners the opportunity to make repairs on their homes and ultimately helps to maintain Iowa City's housing stock. The Housing Rehabilitation Program office administers two programs: CDBG & HOME Housing Rehabilitation Programs: The federally-funded housing rehabilitation program is funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership programs and provides financial assistance to low and moderate income homeowners wanting to make repairs and improvements to their homes.

Iowa City Hospice is a community-based not-for-profit organization that offers serious illness and end-of-life care to patients, families and their loved ones. Services are available to anyone who qualifies for hospice and resides in the seven-county service area of Johnson, Cedar, Iowa, Linn, Louisa, Muscatine and Washington Counties. Iowa City Hospice turns no one away due to inability to pay for hospice services. In addition to hospice and bereavement care, Iowa City Hospice's services include caregiver support and advance care planning guidance through Honoring Your Wishes.
