Legislative Agenda Priorities
Each year Johnson County identifies key state legislative priorities that reflect our community’s values, support effective local governance, and promote the well-being of all residents. The list of priorities provides direction to elected officials and department heads and allows the collective pursuit of legislative issues impacting Johnson County.
Lobbying
Johnson County participates in lobbying efforts to represent the interests and local needs of Johnson County residents. The county retains the services of various entities and organizations to serve as an information resource and lobbyist for issues that affect Johnson County and other county governments. Below are organizations that represent Johnson County and local government issues at both the State and Federal levels.
Urban County Coalition (UCC)
The Urban County Coalition is a partnership among Johnson, Black Hawk, Dubuque, Linn, and Scott counties organized to jointly develop, communicate, and advocate for issues of mutual interest. The UCC has retained the services of L & L Murphy Consulting and Grant Consulting, L.L.C. to represent the counties’ interests before the Iowa General Assembly, executive branch, and other relevant agencies, departments, and organizations.
