The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The Iowa Chapter serves all 99 counties. Locally we provide information, referral, individual care consultations, support groups and education.

Individual and Systems Advocacy: We will advocate for you as a member of the community. We can help you understand your civil rights and responsibilities when dealing with the government, your employer, or other service providers, and we can help you stand up for those rights if you feel you are being treated unfairly. Examples of Advocacy services: - IEP Representation - Assistance in Social Security or Social Security/Disability benefits application and appeals. - Representation in any kind of corrective action, mediation processes, and/or civil rights-related activities.

Aging Services assists older adults and caregivers in Johnson and Linn counties. Our mission is to enhance the lives of older adults by providing services and resources to assist them in remaining independent. Services include: Pathways Adult Day Health Center, transportation, minor and major home repairs including snow removal and lawn mowing services.

For more than 30 years, AARP Driver Safety has helped millions of drivers learn defensive driving techniques to help them stay safe on the road. The course teaches:
- Defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road
- How to deal with aggressive drivers
- How to safely use anti-lock brakes, air bags and safety belts
- How to reduce traffic violations, crashes and chances for injury
- Important facts about the effects of medication on driving
- Techniques for handling left turns, right-of way, blind spots and more

RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and better. It is a federal program under Senior Corps, which is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Housed locally by United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties. The United Way 55+ RSVP Program serves three counties - Johnson, Muscatine, and Des Moines. Engages community members 55+ in meaningful volunteer opportunities to meet community needs that benefit citizens of all ages as well as enrich the life of the volunteer.
