Auditor's Office announces Iowa City City Council Primary Election for District A candidates

The City of Iowa City will have a City Council Primary Election for District A candidates on Oct. 10, 2023. Iowa City requires a primary if three or more candidates file for a district seat or if five or more candidates file for the two At-Large seats.

Only voters who live in District A are eligible to vote in the Iowa City City Council Primary Election. District A includes the following precincts: IC02, IC07, IC08, IC09, IC10, IC12, IC13, IC26, and IC27. The top two candidates from District A will advance to the November 7 City and School Election.

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors is seeking volunteers to serve on various County boards and commissions. Board and commission members serve in an advisory role to help direct policy by making suggestions and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and County staff.

Labor Day 2023 hours announced for Johnson County governmental offices

Most Johnson County governmental offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, in observance of Labor Day.

 

Detailed schedule changes include:

Ambulance: Johnson County Ambulance Service (JCAS) will be available for routine and emergency response. The JCAS billing and administrative offices will be closed. Emergency services remain available 365 days a year. In an emergency, residents should always dial 911.

F44 (Herbert Hoover Highway NE) and Johnson Cedar Road NE opening to traffic at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21

Johnson County is pleased to announce that F44 (Herbert Hoover Highway NE in Johnson County and Main Street in West Branch) at its intersection with Johnson Cedar Road will be OPEN to traffic at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, 2023. Installation of permanent lighting along with some final erosion control and clean-up items may still be in progress near the roadway. Please drive with caution while the remaining work takes place.

Construction was completed by Streb Construction Co. Inc. of Iowa City, Iowa.

Johnson County Decategorization Governance Board vacancies

The Johnson County Decategorization Program announces vacancies to the Decategorization Governance Board.  Vacancies exist for persons with lived experience with the child welfare system and those representing faith communities, mental health, research, community organizing, and the community at large. Individuals living in rural Johnson County, persons of color, and English Language Learners are encouraged to apply.
