Village planning for Windham begins July 18; area residents and public invited to participate

A public meeting to begin the process of creating a village plan and setting a village boundary for Windham will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Renee’s Roadhouse, 1747 Black Diamond Road SW. Area residents, property owners and any interested persons are welcome to attend the meeting to learn about the process, share ideas and ask questions. Light refreshments will be provided, and the kitchen will be open for additional food purchases. (Alcoholic beverages will not be available for sale during this special meeting.)

Wapsi Avenue over I-80 closed to traffic starting Friday, July 8, 2022

An Iowa Department of Transportation Interstate 80 Improvement project will require closing the Wapsi Avenue bridge over Interstate 80. The closure of Wapsi Avenue over Interstate 80 will begin on Friday, July 8, 2022.

Replacement of the Wapsi Avenue bridge over Interstate 80 is expected to be complete by the end of the 2023 construction season.

Johnson County Food Policy Council vacancy

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces one vacancy on the Johnson County Food Policy Council for four-year terms beginning upon appointment and ending June 30, 2026.

Healthy lawn program offered for homeowners in unincorporated Johnson County and its smaller communities

Homeowners in unincorporated Johnson County and its smaller communities who would like to have greener and healthier lawns, without the use of chemicals, can apply to have 50 percent of the costs reimbursed, up to $2,000, through the County’s new Soil Health Program.
