Rohret Road Bridge over Mooney Creek closed for construction starting Monday, May 2, 2022

Weather permitting, the Rohret Road Bridge over Mooney Creek will be closed to traffic starting Monday, May 2, 2022. This location is in southwestern Johnson County along Rohret Road west of Black Hawk Avenue. Work includes complete bridge reconstruction, approach roadway, and grading.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by October 2022. Taylor Construction, Inc. of New Vienna, Iowa is the prime contractor.

Mask mandate lifted for Johnson County SEATS and paratransit, effective April 19

Johnson County SEATS and paratransit users will no longer be required to wear a mask on public transit vehicles or at transit stops beginning today, Tuesday, April 19, 2022. The decision was based on the United States Federal Court ruling on Monday, April 18, 2022, that struck down the mask mandate for individuals using public transportation, as well as subsequent guidance from the Transportation Security Administration.  

Herbert Hoover Highway NE/F44 closed for construction starting Monday, April 25, 2022

Weather permitting, closure of Herbert Hoover Highway NE/F44 from 0.9 miles east of Wapsi Avenue to 0.1 miles west of Johnson Cedar Road will begin on Monday, April 25, 2022. Road closure to through traffic is required to complete construction on this portion of roadway.

Construction is anticipated to continue through November 2022 with Croell, Inc. of New Hampton, Iowa as the prime contractor.

The posted detour during this work will utilize Interstate 80 and S. Downey Street.
