Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2025 hours for Johnson County offices
Most Johnson County governmental offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Johnson County Historic Poor Farm designated as an official Heritage Area Site by Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area
The Johnson County Historic Poor Farm has been designated as an official Heritage Area Site in partnership with the Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area (SSNHA).
SSNHA spans 37 counties in northeast Iowa. It is one of 62 federally designated heritage areas in the country and the only one that interprets the theme of agriculture.

Johnson County Expands Child Care Assistance Incentive Program to Support Early Education
The Johnson County Board of Supervisors recently approved a request to update eligibility requirements and increase the incentive amount for the Child Care Assistance Incentive Program. The program now serves children up to the age of 47 months and offers reimbursement of up to $300 per month for each eligible child participating in the Iowa Child Care Assistance (CCA) program.
