Johnson County governmental buildings closing at noon Thursday, Dec. 22

Due to impending weather conditions, and the National Weather Services’ blizzard warning that includes the Johnson County area, Johnson County governmental buildings will be closed beginning at noon on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022. As of now, the Johnson County Courthouse will remain open.

Most Johnson County governmental departments and offices will also be closed Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Johnson County Livable Community for Successful Aging Policy Board vacancies

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces three vacancies on the Livable Community for Successful Aging Policy Board beginning upon appointment and expiring June 30, 2024. One vacancy is for individuals affiliated with an aging/livable organization and two vacancies are for residents of Johnson County.

Johnson County Compensation Commission vacancies

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors announces five vacancies on the Johnson County Compensation Commission for one-year terms beginning upon appointment and expiring Dec. 31, 2023.

Duties include assessment of damage to all property taken by an acquiring agency and located in the county. No member of the Compensation Commission selected shall possess any interest in the proceeding which would cause such person to render a biased decision.

Johnson County encourages residents to review the FCC’s Broadband Availability Map

Johnson County residents are encouraged to review their broadband availability and provide input through a new map released by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The FCC National Broadband Map identifies advertised broadband service coverage at individual address locations. Johnson County residents are invited to review the reported coverage at their home and/or workplace on the map and submit a challenge by Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, if they feel that the advertised broadband information is incorrect.
